Here are just a few travel tips that I have picked up along the way that will make your travel a little easier...

  • Let's face it...depending on how long your flight is, your suit case doesn't always smell the greatest when you first open it. Solve this unpleasant side effect of packing by placing a bar of your favourite scented soap or even a dryer sheet inside your bag. Your clothes will smell fresh and fabulous when you arrive to your destination. BONUS: dryer sheets can also act as a lint remover when rubbed on your clothes!
  • How do you get all of that sand off of your feet after a day at the beach? Take a container of baby powder along with you. Sprinkle the powder on your feet when you are ready to leave and the sand will fall right off! You are so welcome!
  • Learn a little lingo! Memorize some of the words from the local language, and use them! It's amazing how just a few words will go a long way. Locals will tend to warm up to those that have made an effort to communicate with them in their own tongue.
  • Make sure your passport is valid for at least six months after your travel. Countries may refuse your admission if it expires any sooner.
  • Stuff shoes. When shoes get bent or folded, they can lose their shape. Stuff your shoes with paper before packing, and voila! They'll withstand the rigors of suitcase life and still look amazing when you unpack them. And always put your shoes in bags to avoid the dirty soles from spreading nasty germs on your clothes.
  • Don't plan everything. It might be tempting to have every step of the trip planned, but unplanned days are often those that leave the most lasting memories.
  • Pack an empty water bottle. I always bring an empty water bottle with me in my carry on so that I can fill it up once I pass through security. Most airports will have a water bottle refill station or water fountain. This can help you save money instead of buying an over priced water bottle at the airport.
  • Most airports make you take off your shoes when going through security. To avoid standing barefoot on the NASTY floor, make sure you wear socks. They'll come in handy for keeping your feet warm on the flight too.
  • Look up the conversion rate before you travel. Do the math before you go to get a sense of where the conversion is at.
  • Regardless of whether you are a worrier or not, take out travel insurance! Not only will insurance cover any unexpected injuries and trips to the hospital, but it can also protect you from theft or any loss of personal belongings.
  • And finally...use a travel agent to book your next trip! 1. You'll save time. 2. You'll get the best price. 3. You'll access insider knowledge. 4. You'll have support in an emergency. The best part of working with a travel agent is the relationship that you will build. Eventually, they will know your preferences so well, they will be able to suggest and book trips that you will love with little or no input from you.
